Electrical
Below are some common questions about the electrical and lighting installation
My circuit board only has two pins, but it shows four in my manual
We apologize about the confusion. The circuit board is designed to work with two pins. Please see the latest manual if you are on an old version.
Something in the electrical system is missing
Send us an email and we'll send you the parts that are needed no questions asked.
What are the yellow stickers that came with with the Tokyo Alley?
Some of our customers want a warmer glow for some of the lights. You can create a warm yellow glow by wrapping the LEDs with the yellow stickers. We recommend warm lights for the bookstore and the apartment which creates a nice contrast.
The orange wire nut came unscrewed, what do I do?
This can sometimes happen during shipping. You can simply screw on the wire nut onto wires of the same color.
How do I plug this in?
Once you have the electrical installed, you will plug in with a USB-C cable. Some of our customers will plug into a portable battery or to a wall.
What are these yellow wire strippers?
We don't think you'll need them, but we provided these just in case you need to strip wires of the electrical to connect in the wire nut.
Parts and building
Here are some questions related to building your Tokyo Alley
A part came broken, what do I do?
First, we recommend gluing the part together, then laying it flat on a table. If that doesn't work (for example if the part was stepped on), then send us an email and we'll send you a replacement part.
I lost a part, what do I do?
Please send us an email at support@bookshelfmemories.com and we'll send you a replacement part free of charge.
What do I do if parts are too tight when connecting?
In some cases, small variations during production might cause some parts to fit too tightly. We've provided a nail file for you to file parts down.
How do I make the windows see through? They're opaque right now.
The window material is covered by a plastic coating to protect it. Simply remove the plastic coating and the windows will be see-through.
