ABOUT US
Made by Travelers for You
If you are reading this page, it’s likely because you share at least one thing in common with me and many people I know.
You love traveling or know someone that does.
You spend too much time on your phone.
You love giving interesting gifts (who needs more socks?).
You love a good book.
You like decorations for your home that look cool and tell a good story.
That’s why I founded Bookshelf Memories
The first thing you should know about me is that I love traveling. I also love giving good gifts, and I'd rather spend money on experiences above all else.
The idea for Bookshelf Memories started more than 2 years ago when a friend bought a DIY Book Nook kit for his fiance because it reminded them of their travels across the world.
I wanted to remember our travels in a unique way as well. As soon as I was introduced to book nooks, I was hooked.
Over the next two years, I got deep into Book Tok, learned all about the world of miniatures and DIY Kits, and founded Bookshelf Memories. We designed, tested, and produced the best book nook available on the market. We believe you'll spend weeks staring at it every time you look at your bookshelf.

From Our Love of Travel
We're avid travelers who believe that time is always best spent experiencing the world and being with people we care about.
Discover Tokyo's Alleys
As we traveled to Tokyo's hidden alleyways, we were mindblown by the beauty of the traditional Japanese aesthetic.
That trip to Japan left us completely awestruck by the charm of Tokyo's alleys. Those narrow, lantern-lit paths were so magical, that we knew we had to bring a piece of that beauty back home. We wanted to keep those travel memories alive in a way that was more than just photos in our phones.
Remembering Our Travels in A Unique Way
We believe that our time is always best spent experiencing the world and being with people we care about, so we wanted to bring this Japan trip experience back home in a unique way.
Tokyo Alley Book Nook Was Created
Creating the Tokyo Alley was a labor of love. We designed the entire thing from the ground up, taking cues from our prior travels. We prototyped every single piece and had more than three dozen product testers try it out for themselves and give us their firsthand feedback. We created this so that is delights our customers and whoever they decide to gift this to.
Our Values
We Solve Hard Problems:
Our product development starts with the end goal of enabling you to travel the world from your bookshelf.
After that, we do what it takes to design the best solution for getting you there. We don’t want to make something easy, we want to make something that brings you joy and immerses you, your family, and guests in this amazing world.
Mindfulness Feels Good
We believe that most people, including us, spend too much time on our phones. We all benefit when we spend more time in the moment and working with our hands.
Travel is for Everyone
Our product development starts with the end goal of enabling you to travel the world from your bookshelf.
After that, we do what it takes to design the best solution for getting you there. We don’t want to make something easy, we want to make something that brings you joy and immerses you, your family, and guests in this amazing world.
Bring Joy to Others
We want to create something that brings joy to your life or to those that you give this gift to.
Bring People Together
Just like travel, we believe gifts and unique building experiences bring people together. We will always make it easy and fun to build our book nook kits with a friend, child, or partner.
Our Happiness Gaurantee
We will work hard to make the best product for you, but we realize that it isn’t always the best fit for everyone. That’s ok. We want you to be able to put your trust in our vision and team. We are very confident that you will love our product, but in the case that you aren’t satisfied, we will provide a 100% happiness guarantee. Read more about our policy here.
Our Mission
From unplugging your phone to enjoy building something meaningful, we’re offering a fun activity to share with loved ones and the perfect gift for that person who has it all.
We want to spark conversations anytime someone visits your home and sees your bookshelf.
We want to help you build a family-friendly space that reflects your love of travel and exploration or reminds you of your home town.
We want to give you something fun to do with your family or partner.
We want you to put down your phone, put on some of your favorite music, and spend some fun time building.
We want you to build a home library or reading nook that reflects your experience.
We want to be able to give a unique gift to someone who has it all.
“There is so much to love about book nooks, and a whole world of people that could benefit from the benefits they bring. This is how Bookshelf Memories was born.”
Thank you for reading this far and for putting your trust in our team.

I absolutely love the DIY Tokyo Alley Book Nook
I was blown away by the detail in this diorama! Every piece fit perfectly, and the instructions were so clear. This was hands down the best DIY project I've ever done.
- Emily, Boise ID
Everything I needed and fun to assemble
The Tokyo alleyway scene is mesmerizing! The lighting effects bring it to life, and assembling it was incredibly satisfying. My only suggestion is that I didn't really need so much glue, but I'm glad they provided it.
- James, Nashville TN
Authentic Japanese Charm
As a lover of all things Japanese, this diorama exceeded my expectations. The textures and tiny details are so authentic, it feels like a real Tokyo alley. Plus, it was a fantastic way to unwind after work.
- Sophia, Sacramento CA
A miniature work of art
Putting together this Tokyo alleyway diorama was a great experience. The instruction manual was well-organized and included fascinating tips about Japan. It's a unique and engaging activity that I'd highly recommend
