Tokyo Alley 3D DIY Book Nook Kit

I made this for myself, and then, after my friends and family saw it, I ordered, and made two others for them. I have made over25 book nooks, this past year, and this one was by far the easiest one I have made due to its quality, and design. I'm looking forward to your next one!

LOVED putting this together. I took it to another level by sculpting clay texture to the brick walls and added in moss and greenery. It was so fun and loved every minute of the process. My only sadness is that it's done, but enjoy looking at it lit up every evening. You guys need to create more!

The Tokyo Alley Book Nook was a pleasure to build, supported by the best instruction manual I've seen. (The company continues to update the instructions and add videos to make them even more helpful.) The finished scene, a nighttime reverie, is beautiful and evocative. I was able to make a couple of minor personalizations, adding greenery, adjusting lighting, and using a marker to add polish here and there. And I love that I can leave the book nook illuminated with a USB connection rather than having to change batteries whenever I want to show it off. I look forward to Bookshelf Memories' future products.

This book nook was such a fun build! It was so unique and so different from the typical library type book nooks. The instructions were clear and the materials were so sturdy. I absolutely loved the use of a mirror so you can see all the little details! One of my lights broke and Eric sent me a replacement the same day I emailed him and kept in touch to let me know when it would arrive. The only two cons for me were it had a very strong odor(most book nooks I've made smell of wood or sawdust, this one had a strong chemical odor) and it has to be plugged in to a power source to run the lights, rather than a battery pack(which is just a personal preference issue). All in all, it was a lot of fun and turned out beautifully! Will definitely be a repeat customer in the future!

Oh- one more thing- I do wish it came with a dust cover!

This is one of the best book nooks I’ve come across for Japan. Its high quality pieces are printed double sided so no need to worry about which side to use. This thoughtful kit comes with everything you need. Eric, the owner is very responsive and sent me additional pieces when i inadvertently broke one of the pieces. I really enjoyed putting this together and loved how it came out. I can’t wait to see what Eric will be adding to the Bookshelf Memories collection. Forever a fan!

I completed my Tokyo Alley over 3 days, about 12 hours total, building at a leisurely pace. This kit is a good balance of providing the instructions needed, but also the patience and focus to get it right. I would recommend dry fitting and reviewing the well illustrated manual to ensure pieces are being assembled correctly. The pieces of the kit fit very precisely - if something isn't working, go back to the manual. The completed book nook looks even better than any pictures. The layout is well thought out and it is obvious the designers put a lot of heart and soul into the product. You will be challenged, and also rewarded in the end.

What a cool project! A friend of mine introduced me to this and I bought it immediately. My husband and I will be traveling to Japan sometime next year so I was excited to find something in commemoration of our trip!

I enjoyed every part of this. There were a couple directions that I didn't quite understand at first but after playing with it a little, I figured it out. It's beautiful, I love having it in our bookshelf, and I can't wait till they come out with another one!

I'd like to find a small battery pack to plug it into so I can have it hidden behind it on the shelf.. but it's so pretty!

It's hard to explain how much better it looks in real life. The lights give it very cool depth and our family has been looking at since I turned it on. We didn't have a power source nearby, so we connected it to a phone battery which is nice because it has USB-C vs. a battery.
